The Moreton Bay Fig Tree is a Ficus macrophylla, imported from Australia and planted in Santa Barbara in 1876. The enormous tree now stands on a street corner next to the Amtrak train station. It is on the California Register of Big Trees and was designated a historic landmark in 1970. I have masked out most of the background to keep the focus on the sculptural form of the tree, with its sprawling roots and long branches.
